COUNTY FOCUS

Los Alamos - The city of Los Alamos is known for its secretive role as the home of the Manhattan Project during World War II. Today, Los Alamos continues as a center for research, science, and technology, and is home to Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Rio Arriba - Rio Arriba county in north-central New Mexico is as historic as it is beautiful. One of New Mexico’s oldest counties, it’s name comes from the original colonial demarcation of the state into the “Rio Arriba,” or “Upper River,” and the “Rio Abajo” or “Lower River.”

Sandoval - Situated on fertile land along the Rio Grande, Sandoval County has experienced a population and economic boost in Rio Rancho as more high-tech manufacturing companies make this their home.

Santa Fe - Santa Fe stood as the seat of power for the Spanish Empire during their reign over the southwest and is now both the oldest capital city in North America and the oldest European community west of the Mississippi.

Taos - Its location in north central New Mexico at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains seats Taos County at an ideal location for skiing, hiking, and river rafting. Taos has also long been known as an artist colony.
