Medicaid Federal Matching Assistance Percentage (FMAP) Increase
$86.6 billion was included for the Medicaid program. States will be required to maintain at least current eligibility for the Medicaid program in order to receive this funding.
New Mexico will receive $630 million in federal matching funding for the period of 10/1/2008 to 12/31/2010.
Administrator: New Mexico Human Services Department
Purpose: To prevent reductions in Medicaid funded health care to low-income children and families, and to provide fiscal relief for other state priorities.
Description: Provides each state with an increase in federal matching funds for state Medicaid expenditures in order to assist states with budget shortfalls avoid states’ having to cut back Medicaid Assistance and other state programs.
